 Research has shown that a family who dines together, has strong bonding between them. Dining area is a place where the whole family sits together and chit-chats over delicious meals. It doesn't really matter whether the dining place is small or big, it really depends on the design you choose and the bonding among family members matters.


Although the traditional way of having meals in India has been to sit and eat on the floor but that tradition is gone now.

Dining room should be in sync with adjoining rooms -

Your living room furniture and your kitchen colour and design should complement your dining area. The colour and texture of furniture, theme and design as a whole can give you the feel of completeness.


Plan according to the dining room size -

If your dining area is about 10 x 10 feet, then you can fit in 3 x 5 feet table for 5-6 people. If it's smaller than that, then you can keep it against the wall or make a customized foldable dining table to save space.

Round table works well for smaller spaces and can go for a rectangular-shaped table if you have big enough space.

This purely depends on your preferences. To choose laminated top or wooden top, it really depends on the kind of maintenance you are willing to undertake. You can always give more weightage to design and decor.


Dining chairs -

Because you are not going to sit for a long time on your dining chair, you don’t need to look for comfort. Rather you can emphasize on make, design and colours. Also, before buying chairs, always sit on those chairs to check that they are not too high or low in comparison to your dining table.


Modern wooden or classic rustic, glass or laminated top, you can choose any furniture depending on your lifestyle and budget. There are no specific rules when it comes to choosing dining sets. But being creative and paying attention to each and every detail really helps.
